Oregon, Wisconsin is a quaint little community about 20 minutes south of downtown Madison. It’s a small community of only about 3,500 households. The village is tight-knit and has a small-town feel.

History of Oregon Wisconsin

The village of Oregon was originally settled in 1843.  The first settler in Oregon was Baltimore native Bartlet Runey. He was drawn to the area because of its vast hilly prairies and sweetgrass landscapes. Several historic buildings are still in use today, despite several devastating fires. Oregon’s original Red Brick Schoolhouse is one of the most distinctive (It’s no longer a school, of course. The population has far outgrown that!). The Gorman & Company currently occupies the space. It’s rather suiting because Gorman & Co. revitalizes significant historic buildings and works to preserve affordable housing. They’ve done significant work in Oregon.
